On Sunday, December 15, 2024, the Fellowship Hall at First Congregational Church UCC in South Haven came alive with the warmth of community and the tantalizing aroma of a holiday feast. Our Annual Smoked Turkey Dinner was a resounding success, with approximately 70 attendees gathering to enjoy delicious food, heartfelt conversations, and the spirit of togetherness that defines our church family.
The feast featured an incredible spread, including tender smoked turkey, creamy mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, savory stuffing, corn, jello, and an array of mouthwatering desserts. It was a meal fit for the season, prepared with love and shared with joy.
Behind the scenes, the event was made possible by the tireless efforts of the men of the church. Many dedicated volunteers arrived in the early hours of the morning to begin cooking three large turkeys, ensuring they were perfectly smoked and ready to served after worship. Their hard work and camaraderie set the tone for the entire day, creating an atmosphere of gratitude and fellowship.
A special note of appreciation goes out to Ted Guimond, whose vision and leadership made this extraordinary event possible. Ted’s organization and enthusiasm brought everything together seamlessly, from the planning stages to the final slice of dessert.
We’re so grateful to everyone who contributed—whether by preparing food, setting up, serving, or simply sharing in the joy of the afternoon. This event serves as a wonderful reminder of what makes our church so special: the willingness to come together in service and celebration, lifting one another up in faith and friendship.
Thank you to all who participated and made this year’s Smoked Turkey Dinner a memorable occasion. We look forward to seeing you at next year’s gathering and continuing this beloved tradition!
