Donate Five to Help Others Survive
The High School/Middle School youth groups want to say a big “Thank You” to our church family for their great support of the “Donate Five to Help Others Survive” canned food drive to support the We Care Food Pantry. Thanks to your generosity, and the generosity of Albemarle Corporation, over 400 canned goods and $155 dollars were donated during the month of March.
On Saturday, March 20th, the HS/MS groups helped out in the Food Pantry under the direction of John and Sue Gillett. The youth worked hard organizing the donated goods, helping stock the shelves and delivering food to people utilizing the food pantry. The youth also went to Meijer and raised funds by returning pop cans in order to purchase additional canned goods.
We would like to thank John and Sue Gillett for their great job, not only supervising the youth, but also educating them about the critical role the pantry plays in helping feed those who are in need. As Mr. Gillett said—nobody in need will be turned down. As Jesus said in the parable of the sheep and goats “whatever good you did for one of the least of my brothers and sister, you did for me.”
Also, thank you to Mike Tupper, Elena Garcia, Missy Spies and Laura Bos for their help keeping the chaos to a minimum on Saturday.
The Youth will be meeting next on April 18 at 11:30 to prepare for Youth Sunday on April 25.
